I had a friend request this recipe this week. I thought as long as I was typing it, I might as well share it with everyone. It’s my all-time favorite recipe for BBQ’s. It comes from the East Chain Lutheran Church Basement Cookin’ Cookbook. The recipe is from a church member, Arlyce Holland. It’s really easy and really good!
1 pound hamburger or ground turkey, browned and drained
1 tablespoon brown sugar 3/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon prepared mustard, I like dijon.
1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup diced onion
1 tablespoon vinegar 1/4 cup diced celery
Mix brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, salt and vinegar together. Blend with meat, onion, and celery. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes around 10 buns.
