Lord Fletcher’s Old Lake Lodge

Last night the farmer and I treated ourselves to an evening out. We enjoyed dinner at Lord Fletcher’s Old Lake Lodge on Lake Minnetonka. This is a great place to go if you’re looking for a fine dining experience. It was pretty expensive, by my standards, but the food was good and the atmosphere was great. We have to go back, because there were so many things on the menu I wanted to try!

We started with the Jumbo Lump Crabcake which comes with preserved lemon tartar. The crab cake was good, not the best I’ve had. The tartar sauce however was out of this world! I don’t generally like tartar sauce, but I was eating this stuff by itself. It tasted almost like some kind of salad instead of tartar sauce.

For the main course, I had the Ahi Tuna and Soba Noodles. The tuna was outstanding. It melted in my mouth like butter. The pasta was good, but the sesame vinaigrette was a little overpowering. Half way through the pasta I couldn’t take the dressing anymore. It was hard to enjoy the sugar snap peas, carrots, and mushrooms with so much dressing. I wouldn’t order this dish again.

The farmer had the New York Strip with broccoli and au gratin potatoes. The steak was the thickest steak I’ve ever seen. The farmer said it was excellent. It looked to be cooked to perfection. I tasted his potatoes and wanted to cry they were so good. I don’t generally get too excited about au gratin potatoes, but I could’ve just had those for a meal.

We shared the New York Style Blueberry Cheesecake for dessert. It was good, probably not the most creamy cheesecake I’ve ever had, but good. It definitely got an A in presentation. It was beautifully garnished with the blueberries, whipped cream, a mint leaf, and a blue sugar decoration which looked like a piece of stained glass. I wish I would’ve gotten a picture, but the lighting was low. Great for an intimate dinner, not so great for pictures.

I would give the whole experience 4 out 5 stars. I’m pretty sure had I ordered something else it would’ve been 5 stars. Check out the full menu on their website, the prices are also listed so you don’t have sticker shock. It’s definitely a splurge. www.lordfletchers.com
